Lyric Theatre, Fitzroy
Charles Veta
The only reference that has come to light about this obscure instrument is the following extract from a biography of Charles Veta, published in 1926, when he was conducting the orchestra at the Regent Theatre, Thornbury, Melbourne:
'On the installation of an organ at the Lyric Theatre, Fitzroy, I took over this instrument,' remarked Mr Veta in the course of conversation recently, 'and it was then one of the most modern organs in the country.'
"Music and Musicians", Everyone's, 26 May, 1926, p. 45.
From the information given about Mr Veta's various appointments in Melbourne theatres, it would seem that he was at the Lyric around twelve years before the article was written, i.e., about 1914.
